Acer Dissectum Viridis
This cultivar’s foliage is shaped like an umbrella and is carried upright. It has a fast growth rate and if it is not pruned adequately it will not maintain its compact rounded shape, but can take on bizarre shapes and adapt easily to its surroundings. It loves open spaces and with time it may reach an impressive size, ideally in a semi-shaded position.
The leaves present with an emerald green colour in spring, which remains in place during summer while during the autumn season the colour changes to dark yellow before the leaves fall. The new grown leaves appear with colours from yellow to bright green. The leaves are small, well-defined and jagged with deep veins. They are carried mostly erect and hang slightly.
To facilitate root growth this cultivar prefers soft, moist and well-drained terrain. Ensure enough water is present in the summer months to prevent desiccating leaves. Frequent flooding, however, especially in heavier terrain unsuited to this plant, is to be avoided as it can lead to fungus and necrosis.
Taking care of these plants is the only way to enjoy their beauty and elegance for a long time. Verify the need for an annual disinfestation to be carried out in the spring period (March-April), perform two annual fertilizations in spring and autumn, and perform a pruning in the autumn period (September-October)
